She looked across the room at Will , she wasn’t sure why, only to find that he was looking back at her. They both glanced hastily away.
Life Changing Book/Series: The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
❝Jem always said that Will rushed toward the end of a mission rather than proceeding in a measured manner, and that one must look at the next step on the path ahead, rather than the destination in the distance, or one would never reach one’s goal. Will closed his eyes for a moment. He knew that Jem was right, but it was hard to remember, when the goal that he sought was the girl that he loved.❞

Clockwork angel by Cassandra Clare
“My name is Herondale,” the boy said cheerfully. “William Herondale, but everyone calls me Will…”
“Remember when you tried to convince me to feed poultry pie the mallards in the park to see if you could breed a race of cannibal ducks?”
“They ate it too,” Will reminisced. “Bloodthirsty little beasts. Never trust a duck.”
I’m sure I’m not the first person to say this, and I know I am also probably just completely overthinking things, but I can’t help but feel that the background of the Clockwork Princess cover represents the two boys in Tessa’s life;
The bridge, being Blackfriars Bridge, would represent Jem, as in Clockwork Angel he takes her there and tells her that it is his favourite place in London -‘… they came out from the network of streets and onto Blackfriars Bridge itself, “(…) This is it,” he added, gesturing before him. “My favourite place in London.”’
And behind that is St. Paul’s Cathedral, which would represent Will, as also in Clockwork Angel, Tessa dreams of him atop the dome -‘Finally she dreamed of Will, standing at the apex of the dome of St. Paul’s, alone under the light of a white, white moon.’
I’m sure the background was just chosen because it is really pretty, and is also close to the location of the London Institute, or maybe it has some relevance to something that happens in the book, or something, but I don’t know, I just can’t help but think….
